Tamileelam F.A Ranked 19 Worldwide Out of 103

As 2016 is nearing its conclusion, there’s been astonishing progress involving our Tamileelam National Team. The Tamileelam Football Association was ranked 78th after participating in the World Football Cup 2014 in Östersund, Sweden. After placing 11th out of 12 teams, TEFA seemed like they had taken a step backwards, but it didn’t turn out to be the case.

In February of 2016, Tamileelam F.A were winners in the Remscheid Challenger Cup in Germany, defeating the Romani National Team 4-1. With this cup win, TEFA had secured their spot in the World Football Cup of 2018.

In August of the same year, Tamileelam F.A convincingly won the World Unity Cup in London, England, defeating the Chagos Islands Football Club 5-1, and Barawa F.C 5-0.

In their 3 games played in 2016, our TEFA boys have scored a whopping 14 goals, and conceding just 1 on the international stage.

Tamileelam F.A climbed the table 59 spots this year, and now ranked 19th out of 103 countries.

Congratulations to Tamileelam F.A and our Canadian representatives, Umaesh Sundaralingam, Kevin Segam and Nirun Sivananthan.
